MEDICAL ASSISTANT

Primary Job Duties: Assisting physicians and mid-levels in any other way to ensure effective & efficient patient flow. Both in person and telehealth visits. You will support the physicians and their patients through a variety of tasks related to patient care management, organization and communication. The target is to complete all tasks accurately, with high quality and in a timely manner. Excellent time management skills and ability to multi-task and prioritize work is a must. Punctuality is key.

Other Job Functions:

  • Welcomes patients, visitors, physicians and staff in a warm, friendly and professional manner.
  • Rooms patients upon arrival, documenting patient's vital signs and chief complaint in the patient's chart/ EMR system (Intergy). Confirming current medication list and any additional information as instructed by the physician.
  • Assumes responsibility for assisting physicians with anything they may need - obtaining tests, labs, translation, etc.
  • Two days prior to patient's appointment, reviews patient's chart and checks that all pertinent information is up-to-date including current referrals and test results.
  • Pulls prescription refill requests and obtains approval from physician to refill.
  • Calls or faxes in any orders approved by physician.
  • Checks voice mail messages regularly throughout the day and addresses/responds to all inquiries by the end of each day. Documents in EMR for accuracy.
  • Assists in routing completed billing sheet to the appropriate location.
  • Cleans and sterilizes room before bringing in the next patient.
  • Maintains OSHA logs and keeps up to date for compliance.
  • Restocking of patient rooms with supplies on a daily basis.
  • Inventories and reports medical supplies that need to be ordered to the appropriate lead.
  • Checks assigned physicians mail on a daily basis and notifies physician of patients' lab and test results; meeting times; etc.
  • Reschedules appointments as needed if there is a change in MD's schedule.
  • Provides back-up for other providers, if needed and as instructed by their lead.
  • Promotes the purpose, values and foundations of TNG at all levels of the organization and to our customers.

REQUIREMENTS -

Education, Experience & Certifications:

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Graduation from an accredited medical assistant program required.
  • One year work related experience preferred.
  • Current CPR certification preferred.
  • Certified California Medical Assistant preferred.
  • Salary to be determined based on experience.

Job Type: Full-time

Schedule:

  • 8 hour shift
  • Monday to Friday
  • Weekends as needed
